I would hold a press conference and admit I was wrong, and that I misled the country into beleiveing the war was against the terrorists that caused 9/11. I'd tell them how I had an invaison of Iraq planned for years, and that I "doctored" US intelligence on purpose to further gain support from the american people. I would then admit that the war didn't go as planned, although I got to kill Saddam for dad, I was not expecting a civil war and I have no way out of the mess I created. I'd tell them that I've painted myself into a wall here an I had been trying to compensate by adamantly pushing my idea of increasing troops, because, I do not have a good reputation with the world and cannot use any other way of convincing people to buy into my ideas, other than by force and by seeming strong in my convictions. But in reality I know we're screwed in this thing.

I would then apologize to the American people for leading them astray. I would apologize to the people of New Orleans for not caring about them at the time because I was too deep into my powerstruggles abroad. I would apologize to the middle class for enableing the rich to get extremely richer, and for allowing the US to loose over 3 Million jobs.

I would beg for forgiveness and consult with the few intelligent and honest people who have tried to stop me for advice on finishing out my term.

I would not remove myself from office, only because I do not trust Dick to run things.

First of all, I would listen to my generals. They have been trained in military tactics and in waging war. Since Gen. Casey, for example, is saying that the armor and equipment for the "surge" will not be ready until summer, I would not deploy extra troops to Iraq theater until that time, because I understand that supporting the troops isn't a slogan--it means giving them protection so that they are less likely to become casualties.

Second of all, I would follow the Constitution--after all, as President, I took an oath to preserve, protect, and defend it. This means I would stop using "signing statements" because their constitutionality is in question--wait until the SCOTUS rules on them. This means I get warrants via the FISA courts for wiretaps. This means I realize that Congress is a co-equal branch of government whose bills and investigations are to be heeded and not brushed aside.

Last of all, I would look carefully at my actions. As a self-proclaimed born-again Christian, I know it is vital that I follow the Ten Commandments, which includes the one about not bearing false witness. I would go before the American people and beg forgiveness for the lies that I have told about Iraq's involvement in 9/11, WMDs, and on not illegally wiretapping American citizens. Then, realizing what a disgrace I have been to the office of the Presidency, I would offer my resignation, effective immediately--and demand Dick Cheney tender his as well.
