Yes of course, it is considered as 1 of the mega events in a year! Chinese is a major population that makes up a big community in Singapore, so definitely we've to celebrate the CNY.
And normally after CNY, there will be a parade going on called the "Chingay Festival", a big event held by Tourism Board to attract both tourists and local citizens to join in the fun to celebrate this festive CNY. Yes, of course. Firstly, most of the supermarkets will be arranging a lot of new year drinks and snacks when Chinese new year is one month away and shops will be off during the Chinese New Year. The festive mood can be best experienced when you go to Chinatown of Singapore. You can get the Chinese new year snack and goodies there. You get to see crowds of people queuing for the barbecue pork. In addition, on the eve of Chinese New year, Chinatown will be packed with lots of people and there may be problems of "human traffic jam".
