He is supposed to be a reliever. But who knows, maybe they toss him in for a spot start or two. I'll predict that he starts 2 games this season, and spends... let's say 50 days on the DL- spread across a nagging injury early in the season and a season ending one in mid August. I mean, it can't hurt to be optimistic, right?

He's going to go from the pen, making about 30 appearances before he hurts himself again and goes on the 60 day DL with his buddy Mark Prior. Then they can continue to leach of the perpetually failing organization that they've leached off for 5 years.

I've often wondered what the rate of return has been for the Cubs on the investment they've made with Kerry Wood. (not Woods). It's time to stop thinking about number of starts or relief appearances. It's time for the Cubs to cut the freakin' cord and cut their loses........now! He has never had good mechanics as a pitcher and even when he gets over this hot tub thing, he'll end up blowing out his elbow again and again and again!! Stop dreaming Cubs, he'll never get it done.

He won't start any.
The Cubs have plenty of starters right now:
Carlos Zambrano
Ted Lilly
Rich Hill
Jason Marquis
Mark Prior
Wade Miller
Sean Marshall
Angel Guzman
A couple of others that can come up from AAA Iowa if need be.
He'll throw from the pen all year, and I'll guess willl miss just 15-20 games. Lou Pinella will manage him much better than Dusty did.

Kerry Wood is not going to be in the starting rotation. Given his injury history and his age creeping up there I'd say he'll never get a chance to be a starting pitcher again in MLB.

No. the reason being extremely trouble-free. As tremendous a skills as Kerry timber is, he not in any respect discovered the thanks to pitch. He has per chance the more severe mechanics of any pitcher I"ve seen in many years. in case you want to judge timber with someone who had the most ideal mechanics of all time, take a inspect Tom Seaver. Seaver pitched with the potential of his legs and shoulder. He not in any respect placed undo stress on his elbow are forearm. i have continually been fascinated on the reality that all in each and every of those expensive pitching coaches not in any respect referred to it. timber pitched including his elbow and ultimately destroyed it. He would rehap and then come back and do all of it once more beneficial. It grow to be marvelous to observe. the in trouble-free terms destiny timber has is as a alleviation pitcher. some innings in line with day holiday and he would very last alittle longer. As a starter he does no longer very last a three hundred and sixty 5 days.

I say his arm falls off during the first month of the season like it does most years. He will be joined on the DL bench by Prior shortly after.

He's not going to start. The whole reason they moved him to the pen is so that he wouldnt have to pitch as many innings, therefore he would have a lower chance of hurting his arm. Thats why the Cubs signed Ted Lily and Jason Marquis, so Wood wouldnt have to start.

I wouldn't expect to see wood more than a dozen times this season, other than in shots of him riding the pine in his warm up jacket.
Oh, and as most everyone else has noted he isn't going to start this season. WHoever said Lou will manage him better is nuts. Lou will be kicking him in the rear to try to get him to step up and be a ballplayer. Thats about it.
