Hey, good luck with the guitar!
The best thing for you to do is go to chordie.com and scan through there playlist. They have several playlist there designed for the beginner. I'd be glad to share a few with ya and even help you out with the patterns and rhythms. I have several in my own playbook. Feel free to give me an I M if you want to chat about the guitar. Love to discuss guitar especially acoustic. This is a link to a youtube page I have set up just for practice and tutorials I'm sure you'll find these videos extremely helpful. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=paintermanone
Enjoy! Peace!

let's see.. the first song i learned on acoustic guitar was "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day.
after that i learned: "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day
"Disenchanted" by My Chemical Romance
"Famous Last Words" by My Chemical Romance
"Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac (for this song use fingerpicking)
"I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie (use fingerpicking on this song too)
i started off w/ these songs, and they were pretty easy for beginning acoustic guitar for me.
