What are the companies that give you that piece to put in your laptop to make it wireless every where you go and how much is it a month? Also, does it work as well as these companies say it does?

I think the top two companies are Linksys and D-Link. Their cards run in the $35 - $50 suggested retail price range. But you can find cards for a lot less on eBay. As far as cost, you'd need to check around with the various internet service providers in your area. Plans vary so much, especially with discounts and new customer perks. The specs given by the various companies are usually the optimum ranges under fairly ideal conditions. Things such as weather, your physical location within the hot zone, buildings in the area, etc. all affect signal strength and upload/download speeds.

Verizon and Sprint come to mind. Expect anywhere from 50-100 a month, depending on plan and amount of data being transferred.
