I would say Roberto Clemente. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955-1972. He has 3,000 hits and is one of the greatest outfielders ever. He was a career .317 hitter. He is also a good person who went out of his way to help people that needed help. He was also the DHL Hometown Hero for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was ranked #20 on The Sporting News 100 Greatest Baseball Players. His #21 was retired by the Pirates. I think he is the greatest Pirate ever.

The greatest Pittsburgh Pirate of all time is Roberto Clemente. He finished his career with 3000 hits and was the best defensive outfielder ever. Also beyond that he was a great humanitarian. Remember he died delivering goods to his home country. What a player but most importantly what a man!!

Clemente is a popular choice, no doubt helped in an ironic way by his tragic death.

Stargell certainly was a fearsome and dangerous hitter who also had a terrific arm.

Kiner was the most gifted power hitter of his time and had his back held up he probably would've hit 500 homeruns back in a time when that was more difficult.

Arky Vaughn is often overlooked, but he was a heck of a player too.

Then you have Mr. Bonds who did some spectacular things while wearing the Pirate uniform. But most of his career has been by the bay, not the three rivers.

My vote has got to go to Honus Wagner. Easily the greatest shortstop of all time and one of the top 5 players at any position of all time. The Flying Dutchman is the greatest Pirate of all time!

Honus Wagner and Roberto Clemente are close, but I'd have to say Wagner edges out Clemente just barely.
Wagner played three more seasons and finished with a higher BA (.327 to .317), 427 more RBI, more doubles, triples, and SB. He played in the earlier era of baseball and thus had less HR.
