Crosswords? I think the word would be "caudillo", but they're wrong it's not "another name for a Latin American dictator", it's more complicated than that. This word was only used in the XIXth century

You probably mean Duvaliar (and have the fourth letter wrong in your crossword puzzle). Duvaliar was the dictator of Haiti, and was succeeded by his son.
