Soak your feet in warm Epsom salts water. Then gently pack cotton under the outside corners to lift the nail so it can grow out straight.

You can take aspirin or some sort of pain reliever before inserting the cotton. It will hurt. But if you use a pain relieving cream on the toe or toes, like neosporin first, it will help.

Gently insert tiny pieces of cotton under the outside corners. Pack it and snip off the cotton even with the toe nail. Wait a few days 3-6 days for the nail to grow out and then file it straight across. DO NOT CUT YOUR NAILS DOWN AT THE CORNERS. FILE STRAIGHT ACROSS ONLY.

Good Luck.

this really works! Take a nail file (I know, girly, but it works) and file just the middle top of the afflicted nail. Just like a racing stripe down to the front. File it sortof thin, but not until it gets tender. The nail will start growing up towards the center, away from the sides. Not freakishly, but enough to ease the pain. In the meantime, take a popsicle stick and try to wedge it under the side of the nail just far enough to put a small amount of cooton under it with antibiotic ointment. I'm not going to lie, it will hurt like punishment for some kind of terrible sin but it keeps the nail from rubbing the skin and also trains it upward, along with the filing technique. There is also a nail remedy called Outgrow, it works pretty well. Sounds like lots of fun, right? No. But these will help.

Try neosporin with pain reliever. They also have special toe pads in the pharmacy section of Walmart that can help relieve some pressure and protect the toes. If it gets too bad, you can clip the edges of the nail that are poking into your toe, but that could make the ingrown toenail worse when it grows back. Clean it every night with rubbing alcohol or peroxide.

there are only two "secrets" to preventing ingrown toenails. 1. Cut your nails square across the end of the toe. Never cut the nail back behind the tip of the toe. 2. Wear shoes that have a wide "box", or toe. Never get shoes that squeeze the toes together. If you have any question about this, ask your family doctor about it at your next visit. I have to agree with, though. The best treatment is prevention.

I used to have ingrown toenails and I eventually needed and operation for them. While you are waiting, soak your feet in hot water with epsom salts. It should help a lot.

until you can get to your doctor try soaking your foot in warm soapy water for about 20 min. this will soften your nail, then try to cut the edge of the nail that is bothering you.(try to get the point) you can't cut it out yourself, but maybe you can ease it a little by doing this. hope this helped! hope your foot feels better soon!

Grab an anti-inflammatory. Also, try to cut that thing out as much as possible. Good luck! I had one cut out. It hurts, but not too bad. just a few shots and you can't feel a thing!
