Criminal behavior is not protected free speech. NAMBLA would like the age of sexual consent lowered to 3 so that they can perform their twisted, sick behaviors on children.

The ACLU is messed up. This just proves it.

Perhaps you should have asked them. As a member I can tell you what they did. The gov’t tried to prosecute a blogger for advocating a heinous act while admitting that the blogger did not and could not have done the act. The ACLU has for decades defended the rights of free speech, and while I disagreed with them in this instance, they have been consistent. They have defended Klan members who were not accused of violence, but merely writing books in support. They have defended fundamentalist preachers who advocated killing of abortionists in general, but not specific abortionists. If you advocate killing Jim Smith, and Jim Smith dies, you have committed a crime. If you say that a particular liberal president shouldn’t be in office anymore, and he gets shot in the head and you have proof you weren’t involved, that is a coincidence. Throughout it’s history, even though I haven’t always agreed, the ACLU has done only one thing. It has used a strict literal reading of the constitution, to limit the power of the government, and expand the freedoms of the individual. Can you name one time where they filed a lawsuit that wasn’t about some government agency not using a literal reading of the bill of rights? It’s exactly what conservatives say they want, a strict reading of the constitution. Also, I am a member, and if the ACLU agreed with the age of consent being three, I’d burn my membership card.

The ACLU is a group of LAWYERS. They take any case, slap a "I've been the victim of prejudice" label on it, and do what lawyers do best: try to win the case.
