Your clutch plate may be worn out and you need to change the plate and pressure plate preetty soon like now.

Are you by the way, releasing the clutch as you accelerate? Some folks used to automatic transmission find it difficult to time the clutch release and acceleration.

If you step on the gas without a coresponding release of the clutch, you will have a high rpm and a poor acceleration. This would lead to the clutch plate burning out completely, very quickly.

Normally, a worn out clutch plate would make it hard to accelerate even after releasing the clutch pedal completely and the rpm will be high throughout, while the car is moving.

If it is your clutch plate that is worn out, than, while the car is moving and the clutch fully released, the rpm should register a high reading with a high whinning sound from the engine. There would also be a smell of fibre burning coming from the engine area.

only thing that will fix it now is replacing the clutch. If it had an adjustment on it you may have been able to adjust it but you burnt the clutch by now. When you get it done replace the clutch pressure plate throw out bearing and pilot bearing plus have the flywheel machined .If you do not do all these things your going to have troubles down the road. ( noises or poor engagement of the clutch burning it again )

i own a repair shop, and it is fried ,if it wont take till it gets that many rpm,s built up,all you can do is have it replaced,it shouldn't be too expensive to have done, depending on how much other damage may be done to it,you may wind up having to buy a new flywheel, getting one that hot by rev, ving it,and it slipping puts heat spots on it,and sometimes they cant turn it down far enough to take them out of it,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.
