It would be best to define "successful" before answering, but here are two initial ideas. 1) the cynical take: if you make others successful, you're giving them a product, experience or value that they didn't have before; you can charge for that item, and you become successful. for example, if you help people with an amazing new invention, you'll reap the benefits of fame and fortune. 2) the less materialistic take: if you make others successful, it means you're impacting their lives, helping them help themselves, causing a ripple in the lake of life, whatever. And unless you're a total jerk, that might just feel rewarding. (even if, as some maintain, altruism is a form of selfishness)

In an organizational sense, you must connect the fullfillment of tasks you assign to others with their success, emotional and financial, and social.
The US is in a crisis covered up by Iraq: Traffic congestion: Tell your friends about Hallitubes..google it. This is really critical: children are being separated from their parents due to long commutes, leisure time is lost, stress increases....

As a mother, I believe that one of my responsibilities is to raise children that will be successful.
As an ESE facilitator, one of my responsibilities is to provide an environment and work with the children to encourage success.
I wish I could say what my favorite song is, but I have so much on my mind that I can't remember the name of any song!

Yes otherwise they will drag you down and there is only so much you can carry.
