The short answer is that you cannot increase your page rank, only Google can do that. So do not worry about it.

Optimize your site (keywords, metatags and content) and promote it wherever and whenever you can, but never spam on other websites or forums.

Submit your site to relevent directories but avoid link farms.

Avoid hidden or close color match text as google are wising up to this.

Above all, content is king. It is all well and good promoting a website and getting visitors, but if you have little content then they will never come back. If you are hoping to make money from advertising on a new site (google adwords etc) then forget it. A site that is laden with ads and little original content will never rank high.

Keep in mind that it can take months for google rankings to change, so you will need lots patience.

Add commonly searched words. Even if they are hidden and have no relevence to the content of your site, they result in more hits and get a higher ranking
