All of what you mentioned occurs because of a lovely little hormone called progesterone. During the first 1/2 of the month before ovulation (when our bodies release an egg from our ovary) The primary hormone in our bodies is Estrogen. Its the hormone that makes women feel like rockstars. They feel thin, and energetic and sane. Then after ovulation the hormone switches to progesterone. This hormone can cause mood disturbances in some women. It also causes us to retain water, making us feel bloated and fat. It is preparing our bodies for a possible pregnancy. Some birth control helps PMS.

They've recently found that periods aren't necessary for health (think about it... back when birth control didn't exist, women were pregnant all the time they almost never had periods!), and it's safe to take birth control pills continually and have no periods at all.

If you are so unhappy with your periods, you sould really try just using birth control to stop them. I do it, there are no negative effects and it saves alot of hassle.

If that idea makes you uncomfortable you can also just try having one period every few months or so, so you don't have to go through it nearly as often.

Same here, I could eat everything in sight the day before and lots of chocolate. The weight gain is bloating or water retention. Congrats for being a woman!

Hormones...welcome to the world of being a woman,if only men knew. My grandmother always called it "the curse" for those reasons. Not much you can do but Midol sure helps us get through those days.

It's called normal. It all has to do with the ebb and flow of our various hormones.
There are some supplements you can take to each the symptons of PMS you could look into.
