The question that arises for me is, has the cost been so steep that whatever was learnt or gained from the experience that the positives are overshadowed by the negatives?

I think I definitely could have done without some of the things that have happened, nonetheless there is always something that can be learnt from experiences.

I believe that everything I have gone thru and trust me its been a lot have made me the person that I am today stronger, less naive, more competent, better prepared and all the other things and I don't think that I would be here if it weren't for every single catastrophe that I went thru.

Let me describe my last year to you. Our 21 year old cat had to be euthenized. Then, a month later, Hurricane Katrina destroyed our house (we weren't living in it, but we were down there only a month before). My sister's horse died. Then her rat died. Our house was robbed not once but twice. Then, in September, notably the worst day of my life; a gunman entered my school and took my classroom hostage. Am I stronger for these events? Yes. Am I happier? Not really, no. I think it's a bit much for someone as young as me to have to bear in that short a time, and there are other things that I've left out on purpose. Am I less Naive: definitely. I'm a lot more of a pessimist now even though I can appreciate some finer aspects of life, but it makes me frustrated that the world has to be this way, even though I know that's silly of me.

there's a reason for everything. if you changed one thing then the whole course of your life will changed too.

and if i did changed one thing i wouldn't had met my husband that i love so much.

catastrophes in life is just preparing you for something worse that's coming in the future.

Absolutely not. Some things were completely neutral, some were harmful, some were educational.
