Seriously, it's something that cannot be perceived particularly by touch. It can also be something that doesn't have an actual form, like an intangible asset (such as goodwill).

Literally, something that can't be touched is intangible, but often means something you can't explain or quantify. For example, this term is often used in sports to describe someone like derek jeter or tom brady. They don't have the best statistics but they have those qualities that allow them to win.
