I can speak, read and write at varying proficiencies in the following languages:

1. Bangla – my mother tongue (speak, read and write).
2. English – 2nd (speak, read and write).
3. Urdu – 3rd (speak, read and write- not so-good).
4. Persian – 4th (speak, read and write- not so-good).
5. Hindi – 5th (speak only).
6. Arabic – 6th – (read only, without much understanding)

I think one can communicate fairly well if he/she is able to speak, read and/or write using the lingua franca- English.

I know 3 and can understand a littl Dutch but not enough to count it as 4.

I'm impressed you can read Arabic, that is without a doubt the most difficult language in the world to read.

Sadly, I only know American English, and not very well at that. A couple of weeks ago, ticked at all the racial and ethnic slurs I've seen, I posted this Q:

====================================
Can you speak my language?

Can you speak ?
No
How does it feel to be dumber than a ?
====================================

It took folks a long time to catch my drift before they got it.

I'm as far from a bigot as one can get. Where I was born, the Polish were the brunt of ethnic slurs, so it went like this:

Can you speak Polish?
No
How does it feel to be dumber than a Pollack?

Obviously, these dolts never heard of Copernicus, Marie Curie (that was her married name, she was Polish), and countless other Polish people who contributed to the betterment of humanity, along with the numerous other ethnic groups.

No offense to the Polish, or any other ethnic group.
