I like SOME of y'alls anwsers, but some are wierd because y'all said Irish and scottish and Japanese did not contribute to America they did......Japenese in America had to live with prejudice because of Peral Harbot boming just like Muslims here because of 9/11.....Irish were not too badly treated but they could not get jobs and were racially abused when they got to america plus we brought beeeeeer and livestock.....Scottish brought lots of ideas about live stock with them, like how to cook meat, if it wasnt for them there would be a different meat for hamburgers or even how to make hamburgers. so please give me more answers.

when you think what we got from other people like rap (which i hate because it makes us all feel poor because they throw money around in the air and it degrades women because they put them in skimmpy little outfits and make them parade around)plus we got gangs at school and now crime.

I agree with you on the Irish and Scottish months. My heritage is Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English and some German. I may be wrong, but I don't think there is a Hispanic month in America.

Scotland has Tartan day in the US. That is enough for us Scots. A whole month would have all the pseudo scots prancing around in hollywood tartans and eagle feathers. Not all Scots are highlanders and we are a modern nation.
By the way but sorry to disappoint you but Celts like a good drink and a festival is a good excuse.
EDIT: To all the posters who said that Scots have made no impact - have a look at the origins of American Presidents and Generals and also remember your famous people like Bell, Carnegie, John Paul Jones et al who were all born in........Scotland.

Hispanic history is in Sept 15.
Black history is February
Asian history is in May
Women's history is in March
Native American history is in November
Gay history is in February in The UK.
Saint Patrick Day is for The Irish!
Italian History Month is October-
Jewish History is October
Irish History Month is March
I find it VERY funny that people come on here complaining that it's not fair that only African-Americans have their "own month" but no other cultures do. Anyone who says that is clearly uneducated.

Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, American Jewish History Month, Irish-American Heritage Month, German-American Heritage Month and Polish American Heritage Month along with countless other "Months" exist. For some strange reason people tend to think that Black History Month is the only "Month" that exist. There is a month for everyone.
Come on people.

I never knew their was a hispanic month but we have black history month because of all the sufferage our ancestors went through here in america. the whole slavery thing was brutal and all the oppression was horrible. i really don't know about irish scottish or japanese history but i am guessing we don't have it because they didn't face as bad a hardship as the blacks....i really don't know why we have a hispanic month

there is none of those because they didn't have a very large impact on the history of the united states. They didn't really make s huge difference orstart a new idea. Here in the us a great problem was slavery so the ending of it was soemthing very big.

Pick a month and make it Irish month. You and family and friends can plan celebration, it would probably catch on and one day, it might be a recognized month to celebrate the Irish.
If I were you, I would learn all that I can about my heritage, and celebrate and embrace it and be very proud ALL year round!!!

Then go and research your culture brother this is bigger than what you're complaining about. What do you know about the potato famine, the IRA, and Belfast? My people where abused for over 300 yrs!!! Think about it, is one month to espouse our successes and culture too much to ask. You think because it was not something relevant to you it should be irrelevant? Come on , THINK before you type.

You have to keep in mind, it is all about political power. Hispanic has become the next political power to reckon with because of the amount of people they have how either are registered voters or who could become registered voters.
I don't vote or get involved in politics, but this is the answer to your question.
