I am going to be putting a logo and a name on a clothing line, first steps first, I need to register it where can I find info

You can register a trademark online with the USPTO (see reference). Click on the trademark tab and you will see links for application and one for fees. It is a little complicated to figure the total cost because there are single and multistep processes. I think $500-$1000 would be average, starting at around $350 if you have a simple system.
