Hi,

I would like to run my jap 600cc sportsbike (4cylinder 4stroke) on bio-ethenol fuel or a mix including a high percentage of bio such as E85 (85% bio).

Is this possible? What modifications will be needed? What perfomance changes will I see?

If this is not possible, how else can I make my motorcycle greener without loosing the fun factor?

Thanks in advance.

do what ever you can to save the planet

ethanol, while being better for the planet, is not really good for your stock bike. it will produce less power per unit volume, eat any rubber fuel system parts, and if you exceed the standard 15% blend may hole a piston as the compression ratio in a modern sport bike may be too high for ethanol. if you are serious about this conversion, then you could work around all these problems (non rubber fuel lines, gaskets, adjust the timing back a little, and maybe change to a lower compression piston) but that will be expensive, and certainly void your warranty.
you can make your bike greener by : riding less, riding less aggressively, keep it well tuned in stock form with stock exhaust and pollution controls, not washing or spilling chain lube, gas, or oil in the driveway, or choosing a smaller bike. i know that kind of goes against the fun factor, but often fun is not good for the environment, and you did ask. i ride an old kz 1000, so i can't fault someone else's choices.

Ethenol may eat your rubber parts up and burn a hole in your piston because of the intense heat that it creates. You may have to jet larger to accommodate this fuel.

You have been brainwashed by eco nuts.
Buy GAS for your bike and stop worrying about 0.02 grams of Co or something.

If it really bothers you maybe you should walk.

If it where mine, I'd clear it with manufacture & dealer, ie. Owner's Manual
