Hi all, my fiance is thinking about going to the Dr. because we think he has low testosterone. He has next to no sex drive, is losing body hair, and doesn't have a lot of energy. What all is involved in a exam to determine if he does have low test.? Is it just blood work or a full physical? Thank you!!

Erin

Blood (or sometimes saliva) tests are the only way to tell. Though a full physical would be a good idea. I suggest going to an endocrinologist, who can test his blood for all hormones. If 1 hormone is imbalanced, chances are other ones have become low or depleted trying to compensate.

Normally a blooodwork test is all that's required to see if a man has low testosterone. Although the symptoms you describe can also be a sign of stress, so a full physical and perhaps a short trip to a trip to a psychiatrist might shed some more light on the problem.

Sounds like low testosterone...have him see an endocrinologist and test all hormone levels to make sure there isn't something wrong with the pituitary and putting everything out of whack. The hairloss and faigute sounds more like low adrenal with everything else being low testosterone. Both could be signs of pituitary problem.

A man should wake up every morning with a hard on. If he doesn't it means his testosterone level is low. You can go to any CVS OR WALGREEN and get over the counter vitiams that restore your testosterone level back up.

He should have a complete physical, otherwise if he doesn't have a low testosterone level you are back at square one

A simple blood test should be all they need to do. He might want to get checked for other endocrine problems too, though.
