Does anyone else face this vicious cycle: you have a friend who you don't see often and haven't contacted in months now and you want call her, but you feel guilty for not having spoken for so long and you keep putting it off and putting it off until it just becomes awkward to ever call?

yeah i now that feeling so well
you get bogged down and don't catch up with any one
sometimes you just have to go for it and take the time to call and say hi
i have a friend who i don't call often but she has a message thing on computer and often not all the time i log in and say hi
it seems easier than actually stopping what im doing maybe its the lazy persons contact service but it works
we both go through hard times and don't feel like talking so just a casual hi every now and then helps even just SMS which i often use for this friend she lives a long way away and it is hard to make time for friends you dont see every day
but when you do take the time to call it can make the difference in the other persons day so dont worry about how you feel think about how pleased your freind will be when you do call to say hi how you going ???
go for it

If you're friends, I think you can just be honest and tell her "I don't see you often and know I haven't contacted you in months now and I feel guilty for not having spoken for so long! I didn't want to keep putting it off and putting it off until it just became too awkward to ever call! So.. how are ya?"

yeah i totally have done that but you know what they appriciate you calling its better than putting it off for another 5 months. just give her a call....she is probably feeling the same way about calling you....so just bite the bullet and do it...you will both be better off!

just start the conversation off like this, "hey, i know we havent talked in a while but i needed some advice. even though we havent spoken in a while, i knew you were the right person. maybe we can hang sometime so i can talk to you?"

Been there, done that. Although sometimes I do end up calling the person, see what has become of the person.

Just send a postcard to that person. Tell him that you are sorry for not having a chance to call him and that you will call him very soon.

It has happened to me all time.

I read a while ago that when we want to reconnect with a friend all it takes is the courage of being proactive and calling.

You betcha that your friend is really gonna apreciate you thinking of him/her.
