It is the day the the Catholic Church under Pope Clement V rose up against the Powerful Knights Templer and had every member of the order arrested in a very carefully orchestrated move all across the continent.
Basically it was a political move to gain control of the wealth of the Knights Templer by the French crown and the Catholic Church, and in the process they murdered a whole lot of innocent men in the name of the Catholic Church on trumped up charges.
So basically for the individuals on that day it was unlucky!

I know it is a superstition that the number 13 is unlucky....why? I don't know but it has been around for a long time....my grandma died on a friday the 13th....so it will always be a bad day for me!

It's the day when the king of France massacred the Knights Templar. The Catholic Church was afraid of their power and beliefs of self-governance, so they had them all killed. Many Masons still don't like the Catholic Chruch for that reason.
