Overhead is the most common - spraying water over the crops. Drip irrigation is becoming more common that it once was - saves a lot of water due to less evaporation.
Subirrigation is the most efficient as far as water loss goes, but it's also expensive.

In very large scale argriculture, it is a type of two wheeled cart having a 300 feet of irrigator pipes in betw. wheels, it is dragged in position, relays water from small canals..
