why does my reload backup disk i got with my computer, seem empty when i load and run it in my cd/dvd drive.....and when i click on it to see whats on it ... it shows no information whatso ever... this is the disc that came with my computer with preinstalled xp on it... thanks for any answers or help. ??

okay to make sure that there is nothing on what i take is your recovery disc,(the files may be hidden) i not sure.

make sure that in the bios you have cd or dvd rom as your first boot up device, then put the recovery cd in cdrom restart your pc, and when the 'press any key to boot from disk ' appears press any key, you should get an option if thereis ne thing on the disk, to delete all of disk, or cancel press cancel, if what i said happens then you will know that there are files on the recovery cd put it away until you really needit

Check out the Hi and lo filters in the registry for your CD-ROM drive. It's a regedit, but if you have no fear of modding your registry, then it'll save you a few bucks on the bench.

check the cables on the cd drive are connected properly... or boot from it when you start windows, so it runs the cd instead of starting windows.

When things go wrong I reboot, if that doesn't work... grrrrrrrrr!! I feel your pain.
