People should look after their own. That would solve a hell of a lot of todays' problems.

Home is the best place to start an ideal society. Indoctrinate the children of what is good for the country and they will share it in school and community making a good country. Charity must really begin at home.

Charity is a process that is used by governments to make people feel good about the refusal of government to provide what they are supposed to provide.

Charitable people are nothing more than manipulated people who do something that can never achieve what is really needed.

Charity beginning at home is the misquoted notion that charity ends at home. In my humble opinion...the planet earth is my home. Long before any chimp like notions of pieces of land or silly names.

What you really mean is nothing for nobody but me. I would have more respect if you at least had the guts to come out and say what you really mean...but you don't.

The answer to your question is no....because your question is dishonest.

Charity begins in the heart and spreads throughout the world as a principle of humanity. It is nothing to do with bigoted mean selfishness....and it never will be. So give up, go to bed, and know you are despised.

EDIT:

Oh lets look for all the little peoples thumbs!.....

How pathetic.

Yes I think so.

I also think that noble as it is to donate large sums of money to starving children in Africa people who run charities like Comic Relieif should take a long hard look at their own country and see that there are kids without heating and clothing and decent food and its NOT because their parents are "Lazy and won't work" - there is a lot of genuine unemployment and low wage work in a capitalist country like Britain.

We've just had our first baby and as my Other Half is on a low wage we don't qualifiy for benefits because he's working - but his wage is not enough to buy all we need! Our families had to buy all we needed for the baby and we've had a lot of help from local charities such as Surestart - donated baby clothes, pushchair, etc and its a Godsend! We've also got a lot of stuff from Freecycle. I don't know how we'd have got all the stuff we needed otherwise!

Sadly the middle classes tend to close their eyes to the poverty around them and only look to poverty abroad. Some of them are so up themselves that they don't even know that kids are living in poverty in this country and can't beleive there are families who don't shop at Marks and Spencer and have 2 cars and 3 holidays every year!!

Absolutely. Charity to oneself... in the western world, too much is taken for granted. Items are easily discarded and cheaply (very cheaply) replaced.

Enjoy it while it lasts, but be thrifty. This econoic trend will not last. Do not be deceived with consumerism that is today. For whilst we are in econoic bliss in the west at present, the trend shall pass and fortune will pass. China for example is racing to a winning post in economy and the losers shall repent. Home owners, loan takers beware. The money is not yours and shall be taken from you many times more than its worth to you.

Charity should begin at home, now. Do not fall into the greedy trap that takes for granted.

I agree - people should definitely look after their own. As for Charity - she comes round with her begging bowl once a week!!!

(I'm joking - sense of humour needed here!!!).

Charity should begin where it is needed. The hierarchy of need could be defined by the greatest levels of deprivation. Clean water and the right not to get shot or blown up sounds simple but is beyond our collective ability or will to achieve.

Yep, I agree!

I realize that some people are just going to fall through the cracks, and we *should* help them. But most people just need a swift kick in the *** - we have a frightening sense of entitlement in this country. No one owes you ANYTHING. Get over it.

Argle - am I correct in assuming you're in general good health? Well, I'm not. And I do *not* want the friggin gov't involved in my health care, but thanks anyway.

I agree. The UK government should make sure that everyone living here is OK before sending millions abroad.
