Hi,

Find a hotel or B&B on the mainland and take the ferryboats out to the city during the daytime.

This will be the cheapest and most practical solution.

Have some more tips here:

You can drive to Venice. Once you cross the bridge onto the island, there are several car parks, where you can leave your car. They are not cheap, though, so you may want to park your car off the island and take the train in. Otherwise, there is also a ferry.

Best way is to take the train in. I highly suggest you NOT park in the parking lots outside of Venice. There is a high rate of crime in those lots. Cars and things in cars getting stolen, etc. The train is simple and more relaxing and takes you right into Venice.

We took the train in (we didn't have a car when I was there). But there are no roads in Venice, just sidewalks, so there would be no place to drive. You can get anywhere by walking (lots of bridges!) or taking a boat--they have boat buses and boat taxis.

We parked and then took a little ferry-type boat.
