I'm trying to leave AOL nd they are really messing me around (and have been for AGES) with giving me my MAC. Are there any legal things I can shout at them to make them give me it then and there?

As of valentines day this year (yesterday!) in the UK they do, as long as you're a private individual not a company!

The new rules require companies to provide customers with "migration authorisation codes" (Mac) within five days and free of charge.

So it's good news!

To be honest with you NO they don't . You can always connect to another ISP whenever you like . They suggest the MAC code because they'll say you're never without a connection . If you ask me cancel you're direct debit for AOL and make a note of the FIRST day you cancelled with them ! . Some ISP's sometimes give you a discount if you actually migrate but seems you're having problems . If you can possibly go a couple/few days without a connection then it should be no problem !... What ISP was you thinking of going with ??

You can e-mail them and tell them to leave you alone. If they don't, then you can hire a lawyer and sue AOL, which my brother wants to do.

I had this with Tiscali. In the end I asked plus.net (The new supplier I was going with) to sort it for me as I wanted to be with them. They did it with one call for me. Maybe ask your new supplier to do this for you.
