An absolute monarchy is basically is a country ruled by a family and then succeeded by the next in line in the family and so on. In most cases it is the next oldest male heir, but not always.

An Islamic Republic is a republic ruled by strict Islamic laws.

The problem with an absolute monarchy is that too much power is concentrated in the the hands of one or a few individuals. This type of a situation is bad for the majority because monarchs are ruling without the consent of the governed and could pass laws that would not be in the best interest of the people.
