It is a popular Swahili (or Kiswahili to be more correct) phrase which means "no problem/no worries" etc. "Hakuna" in Kiswahili stands for "nothing"...and "matata" is a problem/difficulty. And yes the phrase was used in Lion King!!!

It means not worries. "it means no worries, for the rest of your days. it's our problem free, philosophy. hakuna matata"...gotta love the lion king
