Try TigerDirect or NewEgg, they are the best sites to buy computers.

Depends on how old the laptop is... If you have $400 to spend, then simply save $300 more to make it $700, and then visit Dell website and purchase a brand new, heavy duty and performance laptop that comes with the latest Operating system called " Vista" If you are at $400, you are not far away from $700, and hey, you would get a laptop that no one has ever used, no scratches, etc... Plus, you'll get a full year warranty to ensure that you get back your money if laptop found defective.

I think Dell is a good bargain. I was never really a big Dell fan, but I've had mine for a little while now and it works good....affordable and capable.

Especially if you find good onlline coupons (just google dell online coupons and copy the code to clilpboard) if you configure your computer in a certain way, as described by the coupon, then you get decent discounts...

I got 20% of mine, and it came to around $800. Might be high, but considering that it's brand new and current with technology it might not be such a bad idea.

Thats only the Ram though and while that is good what about the other components. You may be buying a really bad graphics / Sound card or Motherboard.

Ram is one of the last things to worry about as it is cheaper and easy to upgrade.

However $200 - 400 is not too bad but keep in mind what I have said.

Don't just consider the amount of RAM. This is the cheapest upgrade for a laptop. Concentrate more on the processor type and speed along with the Hard Drive space.

You should get a Mac computer. It's best to get MacBook (laptop) or an iMac (desktop)

They are good for their performance and simplicity.
