Okay, this is going to take a while.

Okay, 7 is the perfect number right?

Thus 777 is the most perfect number.

Meaning 666 is the number of imperfection.

Hence the number of man, thus implying the Beast is going to be a man, possibly with supernatural powers.

Also, Hitlers number (dont know which one - sorry) was 555, thus signifying the Beast is 111 "evil points" worse than hitler.

In the original language of the Bible, the number 666 actually spelled out someone's name, I believe. It was the name of one of the psycho Roman emperors. It might have been Nero, but I'm not sure.

It was a way of calling the monarch that was oppressing them the Devil without getting into even more trouble.

It is the mark of the beast and the measure of a man. For the
man is measured by his Health, Wealth and Family. Each
having 6 letters and each he would in a time of desperation,
possibly sell his soul to keep or protect ! These are both his
stongpoints and his weaknesses.

666- as it is known as the mark of the beast in the bible book of Revelation chapter 13 verse 18 is a symbolic number, as is much of the book. Traditionally when things are repeated 3 times it is to emphasize something, i.e. Revelation 4:8 uses the word Holy 3 times when refering to God.

Also within the book of Revelation, other numbers are used in symbolism these include 7 which is a number used to denote a divine completeness, as is seen from an understanding of the symbols of the 7 congregations the letter of revelation was originally addressed to, although there were more than that in existance at the time, as well as the 7 lampstands and 7 stars, all discussed in the first chapter of Revelation.

Likewise the number 10 refers to an earthly or physical completeness. Thus if the number 7 refers to a Heavenly or divine completeness, then the number 6 indicates a falling short of that divine mark or an uncleaness, imperfection, etc. and the fact that it is emphasized 3 times indicates a gross falling short, an extreme imperfection. The number in the context of the book is the name or mark of the wild beast, that is symbolic of the world governments of mankind, as the Harlot is symbolic of the world empire of false religon. Thus the symbols show that the wild beast, or mankinds political system fails to measure up to God's standards of perfection.

As is clearly seen by the condition of the world today, and mans inability to govern eachother fairly, as is seen by children starving in foreign lands while some farmers are paid to not grow crops to maintain market price, or the holocaust, the massacres of Rwanda, really any number of things show that mans leadership has fallen short.

But the number itself is nothing to be superstitious about or to be feared, so if it comes up at the store that you owe $6.66 don't worry about buying an extra pack of gum to change the total,...it'll be ok.

The Number of the Beast is described in the Book of Revelation 13:18. From the King James translation:[5]

“ Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. ”

In the Greek manuscripts, the Number is rendered in Greek numerical form as “χξς”,[6] or sometimes literally as “six hundred and sixty-six”, “ἑξακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα ἕξ”.[7][8] [hexakosioi hexékonta hex - lit. sixhundred sixty six]

The oldest known record of the verse, a fragment of an early manuscript of Revelation from the Oxyrhynchus site, gives a different number, 616, as “χιϛ”.[1] The early Church father Irenaeus knew several occurrences of the 616-variant but regarded them as a scribal error, although he didn't know the meaning of the number.[9] The Zürich Bible which is based on the oldest Bible manuscripts also mentions the number 616.

616 can also refer to a Roman Emperor such as Nero
The number 666 appears several times in the Old Testament including in 1 Kings 10:14-22 as the number of talents of gold received by King Solomon in one year. "Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold" [1]

Scholars such as Dr. Aitken have speculated that the reference to this passage was a way of speaking in code about then contemporary figures about whom it would have been politically dangerous to criticize openly.

According to the Bible, Solomon fell into apostasy and built altars to Chemosh, Moloch, and Ashtoreth, pagan gods to whom human sacrifices were made. (See 1 Kings 11:4-8.) In his book "Secrets of the Freemasons", author Michael Bradley notes that the hexagram is known in Masonry as the Seal of Solomon: "...the hexagram is widely associated with the occult, and it is considered the most powerful of Satan's symbols, containing '666.' Occultists call it the 'trud' and use it in necromantic ceremonies to summon evil spirits."
