i worked in afastfood chain before and observed that softdrinks were put on a pressurized tank and it is attached to the machine. i also observed that when the tank was empty and we try to get some from the machine, it is already water. I GUESS SO... and i just hope not. can you observed the tray at the bottom of the dispenser, where the crew pour the excess drinks or sometimes ice, maybe it's is being recycled. my goodness, we don't know what's inside that dispenser.

It is MADE with water, but not mixed.
As an example, the Coca-Cola sold at any fast food place is one part Coke syrup, 4 parts carbonated water. With Sprite it is one part Sprite syrup mix, 4 and a half parts water.
If it tastes watered down it is most likely because they pack the cups with small cubes of ice (one-eighth the volume per cube, or half the measure in each of three dimensions, 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2") which melt faster than your freezer's ice cubes.
It will taste different from a can or a bottle only if you drink it directly from that container.

Yes they do. There are 3 tanks on a soda machine. The soda concentrate, water & carbon. Your supposed to mix more water than soda but some places really like to cheap out and try to save a dime, so the soda will taste watery.

Technically they do. But its no different than canned or bottled pop. Its just is restaurants, they get the syrup and carbonated water seperatly, instead of already mixed together.

rob w looks correct to me. Also, consider all the ice they but in cup. I order mine with very little or no ice. It comes out of the machine cold and I don't let it sit around long enough to get worm or flat. If I did and I had all their ice... guess what, it melted and I definitely would have watered down pop. Besides, I'm paying for the pop not not frozen water.

i work on restaurant pop machines and the way they work is;the soda or carbonated water is mixed with the syrup that comes in a bag contained in a box, that you hook up to a hose and takes the syrup to the pop machines and is mixed with the carbonation, and yes you can mess with the ratio of syrup to water,so if you have a stingy restaurant manager ,then the pop can taste more watered down ,because most likely it is.

I don't think so...I never noticed a difference. But they do add tons of ice so that you finish the soda off quickly because it's only half full with liquid.
