It shows how ignorant they are. Take FDR, Truman, and JFK for example. They were even more conservative than today`s republicans...Are today`s democrats that uneducated about their own party ? Democrats keep proving to me what fools they are by telling me how great those men were (to further their own liberal agenda). These men were great because they were NOT liberal by today`s standards !... Today`s democratic party is truely ruled by modern day leftists the way I and many others see it.. What do you think ?

You are right, 30 years ago it was a different party.

I always find it funny when Republicans call us "fools" for changing... when the Democratic party used to support segregation and racial inequality..

OH YEAH, we've changed a lot... I know you're upset about the fact that we don't mind African Americans using our water fountains...

and FDR STARTED many of the social programs we have today... is that a conservative?

and JFK is really the forerunner of the modern Democratic party... that is when we started to change... started to be against segregation... and he made Clinton look like a choir boy when he was in office?

the simple fact is... I don't support many of the ideas that the older demorcrats had... some did great things... but it was a different time with vastly different standards...

if you want those standards... maybe you should start a new country... that's not America anymore and most people are happy that we don't have segregation and that women can vote...

Both parties have become less moderate over time. Do you really think JFK or Nixon could win a primary season today?

But as far as FDR, Truman or JFK being conservative, that's just silly.

Agreed. I renounced the Democratic Party soon after Jimmy Carter was elected President. LBJ was the last Democratic President, besides JFK, who actually helped minorities to help themselves, fought for the human dignity for ALL of our citizens, and/or had the guts to go to war if necessary. I've been a card-carrying Republican ever since.

Fear of change and attatchment to the past is what motivates most conservatives. It has been that way throughout history, you cannot stop change, but there will always be those few dreaming of the past trying to stop the inevitable. Liberals, even if they don't win presidency, will get their way in the end. The republicans will have to keep giving more and more slack to the point that in the future todays "liberals" would be considered "conservatives"

Liberals have been a growing disgrace to America since the Vietnam war (which, by the way was a Democrat war--Kennedy started it, Johnson escalated it and Nixon ended it).

They hate everything America stands for, like the preservation of life, freedom of speech, patriotism, self-defense, right to bear arms, and freedom of the press.

Freedom of the press is my favorite liberal oppression. Do you know how hard it is for conservatives to get any kind of career in journalism? You HAVE to tow the liberal lines just to be hired. Talk about discrimination! If it weren't for Fox, there would be no conservative voice in television.

This is the most ridiculous rant I've read all day. Modern day conservatives don't compare in any way to FDR, Truman, and JFK.

And yet today's GOPsters think they are the "Party of Lincoln". Abe -- along with Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower -- would bow their heads in shame to see the antics of Tom DeLay, Mark Foley, Jack Abramoff, and the stammering stupor of the Sitcom President!

LMAO!

Because the democratic party has "evolved" (into truly being EXTREMELY liberal, just just left of center as they'd have you believe)... hahaha just like we did from apes.. just ask a Dem!!
