Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

First of all, you must understand that Security isn't a product or a black box, it is about being sensible and using common sense without using an anti-virus/firewall.

Computers don't make mistakes, and unless you open some "infected" file, you won't get infected. The previous answer made me laugh for 15 minutes, because when "PC vs MAC" said Mcafee is better than Norton because it never "caught" a virus [in other words, an anti-virus should "detect" virus, and not "let them go" ... In this case Norton is better than McAfee since Symantec had updates in its database for recogonizing the particular virus]

By and large, Kaspersky, NOD32 and Symantec's Corporate edition are considered good antivirus software. The response time is fastest for Kaspersky, and slowest for Symantec a.k.a Norton.

I don't know of any 100% fool proof anti-virus. If you want more proof, I can show you since Iam a security guy by profession.

Quote: IF you try to make your system foolproof, there is always a fool who is more inventive than you ;-)

In your question you're asking for "illegal" or pirated software directly because you mention "full-version". Everytime you must buy your license and update it, not steal it because good code deserves money, and if you don't pay AV companies, they won't go bankrupt, they will rather incur loss... In the best interest of the industry & justice I would advise you to buy software.

MY Recommendation: Buy Kaspersky 6, with 2 year updates for your PC, it has around 249,000 signatures roughly as of date.

Cheers :)

Live life to the most, coz you never know what awaits you tomorrow. We're living to die another day ...

McAfee 2007... I have been using McAfee for almost 4 years now. I have never caught a virus... I have more than 2 PCs. I also have Norton, but I caught a virus with Norton. Heck, that a,lone proved that Norton suck... I also had PC chilling. That is also suck because I still caught spywares... But with McAfee, I have never caught a virsus and spyware... So, you knpow the answer, right? McAfee 2007, which comes in one solution with Anti virus, spam killer Internet secuity, personal firewall and wireless router protection...

The person who posted below me lack knowledge. His comment proves it: Computers don't make mistakes, and unless you open some "infected" file." This comment shows how immature and illiterate the person is. Whether you download, open file off the Internet, you will catch a virus... In plain words, you will get a virus simply because you are connected to the Internet, not because you are computer illiterate. Just by browsing the net will get your computer infected, and even my 10 year old bother knows that... Yes, McAfee is a better product than Norton, and I would suggest you to be a member of McAfee. Remember, you do not have to download stuffs off the Internet to catch a virus, you will get a virus simply because you don't have an Anti Virus software protection on your computer. Enough has been said.
