Most definitely...and our progress as a culture..species...is dependent extremely on our progress in the sciences.

yes a public understanding helps rid the community of ignorance, the biggest roadblock in scientific breakthroughs. A strong scientific industry would be both more efficient as well as beneficial to the environment because a modern, more scientific industry pollutes less and produces more productively

...What do you think? That sounds like an opinion type question.

If you are confused on the wording it's basically saying "Do you think it is good for a country(or other community) for the citizens to understand science? and for industry workers to also understand?"
