Seeing how much time I spend on the computer, I am concidering getting an MMORPG. There are so many though, I need some advice on which to get.

First Preferance: No LOTR or StarWars, one with it's own plot please.
Second Preferance: Something fantasy with creatures to fight and level up on. I'm not too keen on fighting other players.
Third Preferance: If at all possible, maybe one where you just buy the game without monthly payments? I can take them, but I'd perfer not to.

Thanks in advance! I'm hoping for as many opinions as possible, so if you have experiance in any of them, two easy points! A list works, or you can give details on a couple!

Sorry, I do like the other players! But I put that I don't like fighting AGAINST them. I like to fight system generated monsters rather than other players.

I disagree...you can do a player vs. environment on a roleplaying character in Guild Wars and never "HAVE" to play with anyone else. There is a community to it though and that's part of the fun. However, it is completely possible to play the game with just your character and NPCs.
Back to the question...Guild Wars fits all your preferances...fantasy, free to play after buying, definately has it's own plot. There are 3 campaigns so far and at least 7 more expected. (They do not require you to have 1 to play another, they are separate yet connected. For example, they are not just expansions of first game, they are separate. But if you have more than 1 GW game, you can take your characters from one campaign and run them through the others as well!)
Runescape is completely free (even the download) but it lacks in so many areas it's probably going to be more of a disappointment than 'something to pass the time'. That being said, it IS free...so it's not like you have anything to lose for trying it! ;)

If you're not keen on playing other people, then you should not get a MMORPG. (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game).

What about Might and Magic IX? Maybe Wizards and Warriors?
They are single player RPGs

World of Warcraft wins by far in my opinion... accept the monthly fees, I've been paying them since November 2004 and it's provided me with entertainment value far greater than the fees.
