Brett Favre, playing this upcoming year, will have played AS LONG AS dan marino played. And, Favre sat a year in Atlanta. Therefore, he has played the samelength as Dan Marino, but everyone is making it out to be as if he stayed til he was 103. He's only 37 and he still has the arm. He wants to play, the Team wants him to play (just ask donald driver), the fans want him to play (myself included)! I'm thrilled that Favre is back and could care less what his motives are (tho I seriously doubt he is only record hunting). Go Packers!

When I first became a football fan (late 90's), I hated Farve and the Pack because they were rivals for my hometown Bucs. Watching him over the years, however, and seeing the passion and love he has for football, I gradually and begrudgingly became a fan. I didn't want to, but I couldn't help it.
I think it is unlikely that someone with that kind of passion for football is coming back for such a cold reason as records. I think the Pack is a young team that may be able through the draft and free agency to have a chance to be a threat in the playoffs this year.
I think it will be hard for Farve to turn HIS team over to anyone else. And I don't think Farve was reassured that the Pack will be ok without him when with his chance last year, Rogers went out with a season-ending injury.
I believe Brett Farve will play until he feels that his team will be better off if he retires. Period.

Favre already has a SuperBowl ring and most likely will be in the HOF so I doubt his motives are selfish. I think he really believes that he can get the Packers back to the playoffs and even the SuperBowl.
He's got some receivers that don't count themselves out of the play just because they aren't the primary receiver.
BTW, that is the main reason I believe Favre was throwing so many INTs the past few years.
Receivers would get deep, he'd be scrambling to keep the play alive and he'd see a receiver deep and throw him the ball and those idiots wouldn't look for the ball or even react to the defender going for the INT.
A little help on the OLine with pass protection and Favre is STILL one of the best.
OLinemen are getting lazy now that all these running back QBs are in the backfield.
Where are the OLinemen that know how to pass protect and give a QB a pocket to sit in and comfortably pick a defense apart?
A RB to take some of the pressure off of Ahman Green. This is his 10th season coming up.
And just a little help with the pass rush and run D.
Lets wait and see what happens in the draft.

I think he realizes that the Packers are not going to challenge for another super bowl. He's coming back to break as many records as he can before riding off into the sunset. The Packers realize this as well but they also know that Farve is a cash cow and sells tickets as well as Packer merchandise. One hand greases the other so to speak. I'll bet that Farve will finally call it quits after the 2007 season.

Perhaps a bit of both. He will place himself firmly among the all time greats by breaking the record. We here in Wisconsin are spoiled by his abilities...many don't think he is that good at all. I can only imagine what the Pack would be like with Aaron Rogers starting 16 games. Therefore, it is also for the good of the team. Not that he is in it for the money, I doubt he is, but $10,000,000 (or whatever his salary is) can't hurt the decision much either.
Perhaps the best explanation why he is coming back is because he likes playing football.

i think everybody would agree with me because i have never heard brett farve talk about records he has always been a man for a team why do u think he played as a starter for all those years because he is good thats what ur probably thinking but its also because alot of players are in football for records money and fame brett farve has never been one to act like that he has always done the best for his team like the night his dad died it was 1 day before one of farves biggest games but he went and played his heart out for his dad and team because he did not want to let his team down and his father would probably want him to play not sit at home and poat so i say that farve is one of the best QBs in the game ever not5 for records not for money not for the fame but his team and family.

Hey, last year he had no supporting cast to help him.
They need their running game back so he has more time to throw.
If I still had a passing arm, I would stay in the game.
He is the True NFL player.
He is staying in , not for records, but because he loves tha game.
I'm not even a Packers fan and probably will never be, but you have to love this guy.
He's Amazing !
Farve average , is better then most NFL clubs # 1 QB.

Favre is a good football player who is getting up there in years but can still compete. He isn't trying to be selfish or trying to break records. He just cant give up the game. It is extremely hard for players to step away from sports definitely when they can still compete. And the Packers have improved from 2 years ago and Favre thinks that they can make the playoffs this year.

He's not being selfish at all. If he still thinks his body is ok to play the game of football at a high pace, then he should have the right to. He is the greatest QB to ever play this game, and I have no problem with him coming back. I mean if you had the chance to be the holder of those records, would you retire too, so some kid QB could get some more playing time.

Stop it. Favre is still one of the better QB in the NFL and probably the most physically impressive 37-year-old QB ever. Marino and Elway were beat-down by this age.
Favre can still move around and still has a gun. He is simply not somebody that you look at and say that he should hang it up.
Marino could barely walk at 37. That was sad. Favre's problem is that his team sucks and he overcompensates by gambling too much.
