I don't think that you can necessarily say that is true. Some hockey players are gym rats and some could be in better shape. Same in Baseball. You have your David Wells and your Keith Tckhunks.
That said, pitchers seem to be able to get away with a pot. Some 1st basemen too. Spots where you don't need alot of mobility. Also, many Caribbean players who grew up poor seem to get here and get on the fat train once they get rich. See: Fernando V, Ponson, Carlos Lee etc. DH can be overweight too.
Baseball does play twice as many games too.

Right on, Icewoman!

Because baseball players stand around a lot and do not get much cardio exercise.

And just for the record, some hockey goalies may be a little fat, but the position requires strong legs and a strong back.

hockey is a lot more physical than baseball, they are almost in constant motion. fat hockey players would not be able to keep up with the fast pace of the game. I've actually seen players nodding off on the bench in baseball games, you'd never see that in a hockey game.

Hockey players condition a lot more than baseball players do. Behind soccer, it is a very demanding sport; with hockey you need to be fit because you are constantly skating back and forth. Plus, with baseball all you gotta do is talk to barry bonds, get some steriods, and your set for the season

Generally speaking, hockey has more action and requires a player to have a higher level of cardio fitness.

Depends on the player and his fitness. They will all have nicer legs, but upper body isn't a given. They tend to carb out so if they want the nice chest they have to work for it outside of hockey.
