I think he is honest-he should be commended for telling people to stop singing when they really can't sing. People think he is mean, but I think it is far meaner to pretend lilke someone has talent when they clearly don't, like Paula does. He is exactly the kind of judge I would want, because I want to know if I'm really good at something or if people are just being nice, and I know I could trust his opinion. To me, that is the mark of a good, fair judge. Also, he doesn't have favorites. If someone does a fantastic job, he'll say, "That was fantastic." If they do a sucky job, he'll say, "That was horrible," and it never matters whether he gave them a good review the week before or not. That is really fair, I think.

I think he's a babe. :) But about if he's nice. I guess you can look at it this way: He's not a bullshitter. Like Abdul: "That was very good, but not good enough." But, if you were complemented by him, you know that he was totally serious. He knows his talent, he's been able to pcik them out. I don't think he has to THAT mean, but if you go on the show I think you should be confident enough. And even if these people did make it, there's always going to be some people that aren't going to think them amazing. You know?

He can be nice but he can also be really mean. but he is just telling the trouth. he makes the shoe. without simon i wouldnt even watch american idol!

A very clever buinessman. He had an idea (Pop Idol)in the UK, brought it over to the US as American Idol and became very, very rich.
