YES! Too many crickets left in for too long CAN injure your animal. Crickets chew on anything and everything. If the tank has more crickets than the animal can eat, and it can't escape from them, they can occasionally cause severe damage by chewing on the animal. How many is too many? A few extra are no big deal, but if they are swarming all over the place (including on your gecko), try to separate out as many as you can and put them in a different container. You can catch them by hand, or else put in a toilet paper or paper towel tube, they like to hide in them, and it makes for easy transport.

absolutely! Crickets can and will swarm, but you have to have a large number of them or a sick lizard for them to kill.

All reptile vets, breeders, and experts I know suggest only feeding as many as the reptile will eat. A lethargic lizard from eating too many crickets can easily be swarmed. A sick lizard is a natural attraction to decomposers like crickets. With no food in the tank, crickets will quickly die, growing dangerous bacteria. With no food in thier system, crickets loose a lot of natural nutrients and are near useless to feed your reptile. A swarm of bugs can cause your lizard to become stressed or aggressive because he just wants to NOT have bugs crawling all over him.

It is not an unheard of thing for an owner to wake up and see cricekts munching on a dead lizard. However, unless you put about a hundred in a ten gallon or have very small or very weak lizards, they won't instantly kill the lizard. They could just cause injury, stress, compaction, and illness.

Just scoop them out with your hands. Your skin is too thick for them to bite. Put them in an old butter tub with a slice of potato or orange and a paper towel. The towel lets them hide and absorbs moisture while the potato acts as a food and water source.

good luck!

They don't "attack" like in an all out frenzy, they need to eat and well, the leopard gecko offers a tasty treat. They won't kill them, but they are a hassle to the leopard geckos. They will eat at their tails and leave little open scabs. Definitely try and get all of them out. You should only feed them about four or five crickets each, every day. If you are that worried about using them again, feed them mealworms in a dish that is shallow enough for the geckos and deep enough so that the mealworms don't get out. Good luck!

Crickets actually have large mandibles and will start to eat anything (including your reptile) if left alone long enough, this can result in small cuts or irritation around the sensitive areas of your animal. There is also the chance of your gecko overeating, though this rarely happens as most reptiles know when to stop eating.

HAHA!! I was the same way when my brother got an emperor scorpion and then he didnt want to care for it. I wasnt too scared of the scorpion, but of the poor crickets :P No, they do not attack. They just want to get out of the tank and hop away for their lives. :) And dont worry about having too many in there, just let the gecko eat them.

remove as many of them as possible because they can seriously harm or even kill your gecko. just reach in with your hand or a fish net and catch them.
