This is asked often I now see. I don't see anything new out there. Bands w/ any popularity have been around awhile. Hip Hop seems to dominate a predominately white population. Is Hip Hop the new Rock?---I know, blasphemy. Am I not looking in the right place(in the good ole' days I didn't have to look-it came and found me) ? Is this cyclical? Please, give me some insight. I'll play a Rush album while I wait-E.S.L..

Haha your kidding,right?
trust me, rock is still around!
bands like MCR,FOB, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers,Panic! At The Disco,Three Days Grace,Taking Back Sunday,Bullet For My Valentine, and AFI are considered rock and i still hear them playing on the radio a lot!
maybe you might just be listening to rap or hip hop radio station and not hearing them too much..but they're still popular where i live.

Promoters make far more money making groups than finding bands. I don't think rock will come back big because the promotion money isn't there. Just look at the grammys, all those winners have been around for 10-20 years.

There are some bands you should listen too:
The Von Bondies
Poets of the Fall
The Mooney Suzuki
The Forty Fives
Boss Hog
Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion
Valeze
Kissing Tigers
Kelly's Lot
Red Delicious

Rock isn't dead, at least I hope not. The bands of today really aren't rock, but are mostly pre-fab stuff that the record companies puke up. Bands like My Chemical Romance, Nickelback, Three Doors Down, and others are what the youth of today think is good music. Someday, rock will make a comeback, and these bands will just die off.

When you say rock I think of classic rock like Tesla, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Zepplin ect....in which case no, it will never die, is and will remain alive and well my friend!!!! Nothing any one can do about it....By the way, Limelight is my favorite Rush song.....yahoo.

NO!!! Rock is most definitely not dead.....nor is it hibernating. To tell the truth, hip-hop is more in said situation than rock is. I would totally die without rock. There are plenty of rock(yes, real rock) bands around. *shudders at the thought*

I think it's dead, or half dead like Latin(the language). The only bands that have started since 2000, and sound good have been Audioslave(spawn of RATM though), Wolfmother, and The Redwalls. every other band sux...lets hope rock can make a comeback
