Well, online is the start...you get to know the person, not based on their looks, but on what they have to say...thats where the first connection is, but you cannot judge whether you will be compatible unless you meet in person. I have meet quite a few guys online...guys I thought I would click with, but when I met them, there was just something not right and we didnt click. You have to meet someone in person before you can decide if the relationship will work out. I think its very silly to proclaim your love and devotion to a person you have never met because if you dont click, if one or the other of you dont like the other, then it is going to cause all sorts of problems.
If you meet and there is that connection, it doesnt matter how you met, just how you feel about each other. A lot of people blame the internet for people cheating. A person cheats usually because the relationship they are in is failing and is unhappy. Pubs and Clubs play just as big a part in someone cheating...just a different venue, thats all.
If you have that connection, then that is all that matters. I have had both negative and positive experiences with meeting people I have chatted to on-line. Ive met some real pigs who were only interested in sex....they lied about who they were for self gratification. But, Im not a silly woman, and those people are in the minority. The majority of men I have met in person, have been genuine....not just men, but I have met two women who have become my close friends. I have one man in particular who is a lovely guy...I met him on line, then in person. I am not in love with him, but we have a very solid friendship now. I did meet another man on line and when I met him, it was like a piece of imaginary elastic pulling us together. I have never felt such an instant connection with anyone in my entire life...even in the tradition scene of dating. I am madly in love with him, and he with me.....so I can only say good things about the internet and chatting. I guess you have to have an open mind about it all...of course you are going to meet some creeps on line...but you are also going to meet some genuine people too. I am a genuine person and I chat on line, so surely I couldnt be the only one. I think what people forget is that there are real live people on the other end of the words....some are idiots, some are wonderful people and it is up to you to use good judgement I guess.

I met my husband online. I was from Toronto, Canada (that's the east coast) and he was from Las Vegas, NV.
We met online in December of 2003, met in person May 2004, got engaged in August 2004 and then married Feb. 2005.
Our 2nd year anniversary is this week.
It was both of our first times trying the online thing so it completely worked out for both of us. Neither of us met anyone else we talked to and we just hit it off. He had joined a month ahead of me and I had joined for a week when he contacted me.
I guess it was just meant to be.
He sponsored me and I'm living in the States now. I left my friends, family, and my job in Canada for him. I'm totally happy and have never regreted my decision.

My next door married girl from another city,not another state,anyway they met each other on Internet.After a few months chatting,they met and after a few months they got married.Now they have wonderful two years old daughter,and I think they have pretty good life!Good luck:)

yes i have had successful --- well we met and dated we did not stay together --- nothing wrong just did not work out --- yes different states --- in Australia ---- i have now found the love of my life in a different country and it is rocky at the moment -- most problems can be resolved if both parties want to

My best friend is happily married to a man she met on an online game site. He moved to Connecticut from California to be with her. I also have another friend on her way to the altar after meeting her boyfriend on match.com.

My aunt is now married. she meeet aguy from spain and he when to visit her to south america , Peru. They were together for 2 years before they meet. When they meet they got married and they move to Spain. I hope this anwser your question.
