I can't work out whether I have invented this or if it really existed, but does anyone remember a childrens book in which the last page was a black background with a weird multi-coloured monster that had massive teeth and weird standing-up wavy hair.

It's really annoying me because I have the image in my head but I can't describe it and I'm sure it used to upset me massively as a small child.

I should have said in the first place that I know it's not 'Where the Wild Things Are', but thanks for the suggestion to those that said it.

Also I'm British, if that helps at all

"Go Away Big Green Monster" by Ed Emberley - try that.

EDIT: I also noticed from I2's comment (in a round about sort of way) that "Sad Monster, Glad Monster" (also by Ed Emberley) has the same 'colored-monster on black background' format.

I was also going to suggest "Go Away, Big Green Monster." I am fairly certain about the black background, and toward the end of the book, every page you turn takes away one scary part of the monster's face.

Dont know. The place to check i suppose would be the local library. If you intend to write and attempt to publish you'd need to be sure your not ripping someone elses book.
