Democrats are for the people. Republicans are for the Corporations and the Rich.

According to the stereotypes, Republicans are wealthy southern gun toting protestant war mongers and Democrats are lazy communist hippies. But I think the people who do the stereotyping tend to fit the stereotypes themselves.
It really depends on you, and what issues are important to YOU. And you don't have to choose to be either, you could also be an independent. There is a site below that breaks down the issues.
Decide for yourself, and don't listen to the fanatics that are likely to respond to your question.

Republican: GOOD:They can save a lot of money and are good business people.
BAD: They tend to be not generous.
Democrat: GOOD: They are more free spirited and generous.
BAD: They are sometimes generous to a fault.
