Homophobia is worse:-

1. By definaition, all phobias are irrational.
2. Gay folks are usually decent people, hating people are not
3. If someone hates gay people, they *usually* have issues themselves - surrounding some aspect of their own sexuality

A great truism: We hate in others what we despise in ourselves.

Effectively this means that folks who are always banging on about how horrible/terrible/wrong a certain thing is, USUALLY have some private agenda to go with it!

In most civilised countries, homophobia is dying out - it is no longer a talking point if someone is gay - a LOT of folks are. Who really gives a flying f*** anyway? What's the big deal with it all.

Why the buggery would someone have a hang-up about SOMEONE-ELSE's sex life ????

homophobic, because you are tucked away into your own little world, not changing while the rest of the world is! You do NOT grow as a person while the rest society is! Your existance is completely and totally stuck in neutral and not going anywhere and you are getting left behind and Heaven forbid if you are a business owner as the employment laws ban you from not hiring or firing people because they are gay so you are forced to work with people that you don't like and even hate; that must make for a really pathetic existance as that can't be called a life.

I think it is worse to be Homophobic!

I am not gay but I used to be teased about being gay and this made me very concious and everything gay i wanted to stay clear of, just so that I couldn't be associated with it., I suppose I became homophobic. It wasn't really until I became Raelian that I realised that it is just as normal to be gay as it is straight! I now have some really funny and kind gay friends whom I feel really comfortable around and I can't believe why I was so afraid.

So it's definiately worse to be homophobic, i mean why should we care if someone is gay or not, as long as the person is happy hey!

I know someone who is gay, and someone who is homophobic.

The gay gentleman has had no consequences to his lifestyle, primarily because he is not openly gay (he didn't come out of the closet to us until we had known him for 12 years).

However, the gentleman that was homophobic had an extreme consequence to his actions. He was in the military, and was thinking of being career like the rest of his family. One day, one of his fellow soldiers brushed past him. Thinking that the other soldier had done it on purpose to "cop a feel", he beat the other soldier to a bloody pulp. After months of investigation, the military finally gave him a conditional honorary discharge...the condition was that he had to see several mental health specialists of the military's choice. There was no indication at all that his victim was gay.

But on a personal level, I simply couldn't walk around with that much hate in my heart for anyone.

Homophobic of course because gay people aren't nasty vicious people telling all the straight people that they're going to hell but that's what the homophobs do

homophobic is worse because it shows hatred for a group of people - being gay does not mean you hate anyone

My goodness you're handsome. That aside, gay people have no choice in their orientation. It is who they are. They can be a virginal celibate hermit and still be gay. Homophobia is irrational and defined by professionals as something that can be treated. Homophobia, like racism, can also be learned. You can't learn homosexuality. It is innate. Rational people are not naturally homophobic but irrational people can be, and that by nature is a psychological ailment. Thank you for your time.

Are you serious? Homophobic, because then you're being bigoted. Homosexuality is involuntary and private -- not to mention it harms no one, unlike the discrimination caused by homophobes.
