Well does it sound better with the new words?? If not try to find an e-mail address for it and e-mail the person about adding the extra words on the theme song! Maybe the words couldn't be played on nastional t.v!

Do you mean there's more words on the DVD than there are when you see the show on TV? My guess is because the TV network edited down the opening credits (including Will's rap) in the interest of getting a few more seconds of air time to sell ads.
On the DVD, air time isn't an issue, so you get to hear Will's rap in all its glory. That's my guess, anyway.

In the first 3 or so episodes, there was a theme song longer than the ones we're used to. I'm not sure why it was replaced with a shorter version, all I know is that the previous sentance is correct.

When the show first aired the longer version was used. If a show becomes popular more commercial time is needed so the theme song is shortened. it happens to them all now... Reba, Golden Girls... It also happens when they go into syndicated reruns.

It has always had more words. When it first started, the first episode was basically telling the story in the song. They then clipped it but still occasionally played it when certain episodes were a few min/sec. short.
