naruto, ouran high school host club, and death note.
i highly recommend all three of these

Some really great anime shows are Trigun (only 2 seasons) and Kenshin. With Ruroni Kenshin there are 3 seasons of the tv show and three sets of the Samauri X series. The Samauri X series seem very sad and a lot bloodier than the tv series (which is a bit more commical), and Trigun is very funny, with food for thought at the end of each episode, and some good action too. You could also try www.tv.com and they have a list of a ton of other anime shows. (there is alway DBZ too).

Your best bet is "Hellsing Ultimate", the new OVA series recently released. It's more violent and bloodier than the TV series ever was (and I like the TV series, too).
Another good choice is Neon Genesis Evangelion. It starts out having a mix of comedy and drama at first, but later in the series gets psycological and dark.

The anime I usually like,is well,eccentric.In a serious sense.Im not into quirky stupid childish anime with a bunch of young teenagers running around exploiting thier magical powers or high school drama [Fruits basket,Love hina,Best student council].I like alot of intense storyline,conflict,dream-like animation,anecdotes/examples from History,Death,alot of Mystery to it.These would include:Yep,Trinity blood.Gankutsuo[The Count of Monte Christo],Reign the Conqueror,Gravitation,Vampire hunter D,Gungrave,Priest,etc.Maybe you would like them too.

you've got to watch air and hanbun no tsuki ga noboru sora. Though hanbun no tsuki ga noboru soora only has 6 episodes it's a good anime. Air is my favourite anime, and i'm really really telling you to watch it.
