True tones is the same thing as Mp3 for the most part- they actually sound like the real song
Polyphonic ringtones sound like someone made them on there keyboard at home.
If your gonna get a ringtone thats a song get the true or MP3

Any type of music or whatever that you use as a ringtone, is a ringtone to begin with in the end. It is just a matter of Fancy labeling to make their "ringtone" different. Like the phones with the fancy names. Take the names away and you will see most are basically the same. Like Ringtone is a car, but what kind do you want a truetone ringtone (Chevy) or a ringtone (Ford). They are supposed to be more real, but sound the same to me. The 40 note polyphonic is supposed to be able to play 40 notes at once.

Now some phones can load certain formats only, you will have to look at your cell phone manual to see what types of ringtones you can load. Just like your disk drive, can it play cd and DVDs.
CNET DEFINITION

But what you can do is go to cnet and they have an article on how to make your own ringtones. Why pay for them, right. Next time you buy your cell phone, research it first. If it comes with voice recorder then you can, like my phone, make your own ringtone. Anyway, for free advice, I just point people where to go.
