I am typing up a Microsoft Word Doc. that is supposed to be our new Online Job Application (looks like the paper one we have). Thing is, my boss wants to put it on our website for applicants to fill out and then they email back to us.

Is there any special code or PDF process for this so the applicant doesn't mess up the whole format when the applicant types the info in? Or do we have to hire someone who can put HTML codes into it?

I know nothing about HTML.

There are a few ways to do this.

One way is to make it a PDF file that the user can fill in the blanks, then upload back to your server.

Another is to create an online form to they can fill in the blanks & have the data then submitted to a backend database.

Either case, secure the data as it sounds like it may contain personal information.

Insofar as the document itself goes, later versions of Word has an option to save as a web page (as far back as Office 2003, or even XP or earlier). That would preserve the layout and formatting of the original document.

Getting the document onto the web page and having submissions forwarded to you is a bit more involved but wouldn't affect the layout of the document.

To save time, and do your work well, best start is to use some of online web form tools. Some are free to use, need to only to register. Type on yahoo or google online forms, you will see Lot's of. Very easy to made, have online help on that.
Now, here is one of those links, http://www.formdesk.com but try others too. They have everything what you need, also pdf processors etc...
Best wishes

you need html and a cgi to process that

some free cgi are pretty easy to use. just configure them and upload to your website /cgibin or /cgi-bin and set permission to 755.
