Buying or Pirating software like the 1click series may be your only answer.
I have a feeling the 1click series lets you do part of the movie like 40mins I think free.
Then you have to buy to be able do a larger movie.
They have a whole range Dvd-avi, dvd-mpg and about 6 others

Use "Window Movie Maker", then use the option to "email" or "save" for the web, this will compress those files into something small enough for emailing and uploading, under 100 megs. :)
